Privacy Policy
calories.coach (“we”, “us”) helps you log meals, plan a week of food, and track your progress. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
1. Who this applies to
This policy covers the calories.coach website and web app. By using the service you agree to this policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
2. What we collect
- Account details — when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture.
- Profile & goals — details you enter such as height, weight, age, sex, activity level, dietary preferences and calorie/macro goals.
- Content you add — meals you log (including photos, text descriptions and voice recordings you submit for analysis), saved or imported recipes, meal plans, water/workouts, and weigh-ins.
- Social connections — if you choose to follow people or join a group, we store those connections.
- Technical data — basic information needed to run the service (e.g. log data, device/browser type) and local storage on your device to keep you signed in and support offline/PWA use.
We do not collect payment information (the service has no paid checkout), and we don’t use third‑party advertising trackers.
3. How we use your data
- To provide the core features — estimating calories and nutrition, planning meals, and showing your trends and coaching insights.
- To save your history so it’s there when you return.
- To enable the social features you opt into (following, groups).
- To maintain, secure and improve the service.
4. Service providers we use
We rely on a few trusted processors to run the app. Your data is shared with them only to deliver the service:
- Google — Sign‑In (authentication), and the Gemini AI API, which processes the photos, text and voice you submit in order to generate calorie/nutrition estimates and meal suggestions.
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting where your account and content are stored.
- Netlify — website and serverless function hosting.
- USDA FoodData Central — used to look up nutrient (vitamin/mineral) data for ingredients.
- Wearable providers — only if you explicitly connect one, to import your active‑calorie data.
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
5. What others can see
Your meals and personal details are private by default. If you use Follow or Groups, the people you connect with can see limited summary information you choose to share (for example a daily calorie summary) — never your individual meal entries or photos.
6. Data retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete individual entries at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see below). Some records may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
8. Children
The service is not intended for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
9. Health disclaimer
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
